Meet...Centre Manager Liz Barker
Hello my name is Liz Barker and I am the Academy Manager here at t2 . I have been here for nearly 2 years now. My role is very varied. I manage the contracts and all that goes on
behind the scenes, but I am fortunate enough that a large part of my role is working directly with learners and supporting them with various activities, such as 1:1 job support,
coaching and mentoring.
I am always very conscious that young people and education are changing all the time. For me it’s about keeping up with contractual requirements, but ensuring that our provision is
exciting, cutting edge and most importantly that we continue to get good results for the young people we work with.
Learner feedback is so important to me and everyone here at t2 , it drives our provision and we love to get formal and informal feedback. We use this feedback to implement positive
changes. The Academy was recently awarded a Grade 1 'Outstanding' for our provisions that we run here. This was a huge personal achievement for myself, leading a team to this result ,
but most importantly an amazing result for the Academy, the staff and the learners, without whom we wouldn’t be here. Our team here are t2 are passionate, dedicated and flexible and I
feel very proud to be part of this Academy.
Meet...Academy Deputy Manager Matt Lewis
Hello, I'm Matt the Deputy Manager here at the Academy and I have been working here at t2 for the past 2 years.
My role as the Deputy Manager is extremely varied which makes no two days the same, my main responsibilities within the Academy are to process management information systems which
track Academy success data to aid efficiency and overall effectiveness of our curriculum and delivery of qualifications.
I also take the lead with curriculum development, ensuring that our tutors have the frameworks needed to deliver the qualifications we offer. Ensuring learners progress into a positive outcome is the main driver behind my passion for the job, working in education over the past seven years there is nothing more painful
than seeing the same faces bounce around the system.
I am a firm believer that working in education is about 'building people up' to ensure that they improve on all aspects of their life, t2 is not only about gaining qualifications.
Outside of work my main passion is sport and fitness, I have played rugby since a young age and represented my county and local club 'Old Recliffians' on a competitive level in the National
OFSTED Grade 1 Outstanding Inspection
"The matching of learners individual aspirations to relevant and constructive work experience is outstanding..."
Our Academy’s OFSTED Grade 1 Outstanding inspection in June 2015 (our 1st) sums up our provision. “A very high proportion of learners make exceptional progress in the development of
personal, social and employability skills, their progression into work, Apprenticeships or further education is outstanding. The matching of learners individual aspirations to
relevant and constructive work experience is outstanding; staff have developed positive and well established partnerships with a wide range of employers; they use these to create
excellent work placement opportunities for learners, frequently resulting in full time work or Apprenticeships for the learners on completion. Study programmes are outstanding;
skilfully managed activities are carefully designed to meet individual needs very well; learners enjoy their learning and attendance and punctuality are good. Initial guidance for
learners are outstanding; parents, carers, schools and agencies working with young people value the extended guidance given by staff supporting and encouraging young people to
re-engage with learning.”
